Located in Bridgeport, West Virginia, the United Hospital Center's Cecil B. Highland, Jr. & Barbara B. Highland Cancer Center, with its board-certified medical and radiation oncologists, offers patients access to the latest in cancer treatment. The center provides the entire continuum of cancer related services from prevention/early detection screening and education to surgery, medical and radiation oncology, inpatient and outpatient therapies, home care and, when appropriate, hospice services.
United Hospital Center's Cecil B. Highland, Jr. & Barbara B. Highland Cancer Center sponsors support groups for patients and families in conjunction with the American Cancer Society. In addition, community-wide cancer screenings and education programs are held throughout the year.
Along with standard cancer therapies provided throughout the U.S., the cancer center participates in clinical trials and is a member of the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) and National Surgical Breast & Bowel Project (NSABP), thus giving patients access to the latest in cancer treatment protocols and experimental chemotherapy not yet released by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Specialized radiation treatments using the most up-to-date IMRT techniques, breast brachytherapy and prostate implants are also available as part of the center's services.

The clinical navigator will focus on the breast patient's continuum of care by providing the following:
· Teaching/encouraging a breast cancer risk reducing healthy lifestyle
· Age appropriate breast cancer screening practices
· Education and support for patients while undergoing diagnosis
· Following breast cancer patients and families through treatment
· Providing education, support and resource mobilizationthrough the entire care continuum from prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and during
transition to survivorship
· Development of a breast cancer education and support group
The clinical navigator is available to assist UHC patients and the north central West Virginia community, by being a navigator or guide for breast health practices and for patients and families after the diagnosis of breast cancer.
